Conclusion
The reader has just read repeated incidents of 'gang rape' often committed in the form popularly known as 'gang banging'. The traumatic effects of these rape incidents may be glimpsed in most cases. Violence, it is easy to see, is becoming an increasingly important part of our social structure. It is a shocking fact, statistics prove, that more and more young people are becoming incapable of sexual response save through acts of violence and sexual sadism.
Our children are reared in an atmosphere of violence, witnessing hours upon hours of gore, blood, rape and murder on the television screen. Even toys made specifically for children are oriented towards the expression of sadism. Bows and arrows, guns, deadly X-ray machines and other toys have destructive and sadistic uses. On the market today is a life-like guillotine complete with human-like victim for children to play with.
It is difficult to deny that ours is definitely an age of cruelty. Children are unleashing hostilities towards other children and even adults in shocking instances of violence. College students are engaging in violent demonstrations. Society and nameless victims become the targets of their wrath.
Men are finding they cannot achieve a satisfactory orgasm unless there is bloodshed and violence. Many lust murders are first committed and then the victims mutilated and raped.
In SADISM author L.T. Woodward notes . . .
"Medical literature is crowded with such individuals who attain orgasm and experience ejaculation at the moment of driving a knife into a girl's flesh. They are not normally murderous individuals; they stab to wound, not to kill. Almost without exception they are of low potency and find stabbing a satisfactory substitute for normal intercourse."
Though the cases in this volume brought to the reader's attention did not result in murder or mutilation it is obvious that violence is behind many acts of teenage sexual aggression. Many teenagers are helpless to enjoy sex unless there is some violent activity involved.
Because teenagers are aware that they are feared by adults when they congregate in 'mob' form and because they know they are also feared by other teenagers they often get a distinct kind of sexual thrill out of molesting women and indulging in the kind of rape known as GANG BANGING.
A solitary youth who might fear to rape a woman single-handed may find himself bursting with potency when he is submerged in a group. Often a single coward may find sexual reassurance once he is with a group from which he gains a distinct kind of sexual identity.
The gathering together in 'gangs and the performance of 'gang rape' is a method of seeking youthful identify. It is a poor method. Also a harmful one to the unfortunate victims.
But it is a way of searching for an identity in our fast changing world. It is a common end chosen by more than a few of our violently rebellious teens.
In SADISM Dr. Woodward defines sadism as the displacement of an inner destructive urge . . .
In short, sadism is an outward displacement of the inner destructive urge. The individual, from earliest childhood, learns to defend himself against the forces outside him by externalizing his own destructive instinct. In most of us, such forces are held under stable control. In some, though, the individual's insecurity is so great that he over-compensates by lashing out in destructive fury, the violence known as sadism."
All of us are confronted with pressures from the world outside. We get it from boss's, parents, teachers and peers. Yet most of us remain basically normal as individuals. The sadist is one who over-reacts to such pressures and seeks to make a counter-attack through violence.
Because teenagers today are confused and ignorant about the origins of their overwhelming sexual instincts and because they of times do not know how to control these awesome physical urges they often couple their own sexual desires with violence and lash out in a sexual attack against helpless victims.
Such sadistically inclined youths often become part of the mob rape scene known as the GANG BANGERS. This has been their story. And the shocking effect their often mischievous violence has upon their unsuspecting victims.
The files of psychiatrists are filled with acts of sexual sadism. The shocking thing is that more and more teenagers are participating and rape is becoming a popular form of gang lust. Teenagers are keeping up with their parents and peers so well that they are shocking even the sexual criminals of the adult world.
One fifth of all the rapes in this country today are committed by teenagers. It does not take a trained specialist to see that many of these youths belong to gangs which I have labeled the GANG BANGERS.
This has been the story of the GANG BANGERS. And their violence. As told by their innocent victims.
