Chapter 4
The girls spent the next four days busily preparing for what they believed would be an experience of a lifetime. On a Friday morning, Fred and Jim drove their wives to a freeway onramp and then headed towards the freeway intersection which would head them towards the country spanning Interstate 40.
As Toni and Alicia stood near the freeway onramp for their first ride, Toni said:
"I feel a little funny, you really think it'll be alright?"
"Sure," Alicia replied, "wait'll we're really on the road. It'll be the time of your life!"
Several cars whizzed quickly by, most of them filled with families headed for a weekend of relaxation and fun.
"Heck," Alicia said, "I'm not proud."
The voluptuous wife stuck out her thumb and began smiling intensely at each passerby, trying to catch the eye of at least one person who would stop for them.
The attention of both girls was directed to a high-pitched, ear piercing whine and a spotless, long, double diesel truck spun carelessly around the freeway onramp as it picked up speed in preparation for its freeway entry. The truck was almost past Alicia and Toni when suddenly, a grating roar signalled the fact that the driver had slammed on his brakes. The truck slowed to a halt.
"Hey, look at that!" Toni said. "He's stopped! We've got our first ride!"
"Wait a minute," Alicia replied as she saw the two men waving them to come forward to the cab of the spotless machine, "They're truckers. You know what they say about truckers!"
"Relax," Toni said as she reassuringly patted Alicia on the shoulders. "You're too uptight. You sound like an old maid!"
Alicia was not sure she liked the devil-may-care attitude of her attractive friend.
"We're married, remember?" Alicia retorted.
"Sure," Toni said, "sure. But. . . don't make such a big deal out of it. All we're going to do is get a ride, right. Come on, let's enjoy ourselves!"
Before Alicia had time to even reply, Toni had grabbed her by the arm and was pulling her swiftly towards the cab of the truck.
A sandy-haired youth of about twenty swung open the door and jumped to the ground as he motioned for the two gorgeous wives to enter the passenger's side.
"I'm Mick," he said, as his eyes instantly riveted upon the round, melonish orbs of Alicia's fine, tight breasts shown off to enticing allurement beneath the body-hugging form of her light-weight blouse, "Where are you ladies headed."
"Well," Toni replied, trying to be as warm and friendly as possible, "eventually to New York, but right now to Phoenix."
"Yes," Alicia joined in as she tried to make her point. "We're going to meet our husbands in Phoenix."
Mick acted like he did not hear this last comment as he motioned for the girls to step inside the cab.
Toni got in first and found herself seated next to a burly, slightly balding man of about forty.
"I'm Ken," the man said to Alicia and Toni as he chewed on a fat, thick cigar.
'Toni!"
"Who's your pretty little friend?" Ken asked, bending almost clear across Toni's lap to get a glimpse of Alicia. As Ken strained to see Alicia, his powerful shoulder came into sudden contact with Toni's exquisite breasts.
"I'm Alicia."
"OK, better get going." Mick said. "We're not supposed to pick up riders, but in your case . . . well, who could resist?"
Alicia was not quite sure she liked the tone in the man's voice, and she was sure that she did not like the overt manner in which he was staring at her.
The cab of the truck was quite small for four people and each of the girls found that the ripe, full swells of their Levi-clad thighs were crushed intimately against a leg of each of the men.
"We'll be outta here in a couple of hours," Ken replied, "and then there's nuthin' but desert for miles and miles."
Alicia was not sure she relished the thought of being completely alone in the desert with the two men, but this thought was interrupted by another realization that, even if she wanted to communicate this fact to Toni, she couldn't. The cab was much too intimate for such clandestine communication; the men would hear everything! Maybe Toni was right, maybe she was over-reacting! After all, the two truckers surely had a deadline, they probably couldn't afford to stop for anything, let alone any "foolin' around" with Toni and herself. Yes, she was probably just nervous, probably because this was the first time she had been away from Fred for any length of time. Toni was right, she should just sit back and enjoy herself.
Three hours passed and houses, gaudy signs, and telephone poles of civilization gave way to the broad expanse of the white, lonely desert. Dusk was beginning to fall and the sky was a deep, lush blue.
Mick and Ken hadn't said too much since they had left, but instead had been playing loud tapes, mostly the hard-hitting variety of "trucker music" prevalent among these elite of the nation's highways.
"Sure is deserted around here," Toni said.
"Yeah," Ken replied, "ain't much traffic at all tonight."
"Hey, Ken," Mick said, as he pointed to a small turn-out in the highway ahead, "whadaya say we pull over and take a breather?"
"Sounds like a good idea," Ken replied as he looked his younger partner straight in the eye.
Ken deftly maneuvered the truck to a stop. He reached behind his seat and removed a rather expensive brand of Scotch, took the cork out with his teeth and sucked in a long, healthy swig and offered the bottle to Toni, who was sitting next to him.
Alicia was totally surprised to see her blonde friend take a long swallow of the amber liquid and pass the bottle to her.
"No thanks," Alicia said.
"Don't drink, honey?" Mick asked as he took the bottle out of her dainty hand and helped himself to a mouthful of the smooth liquor.
"No, not too often," the luscious brunette said.
About an half hour passed and Alicia noticed that the whiskey bottle was now half empty.
"Shee-it!" Ken said, obviously feeling the effects of the scotch, "that's one thing about owning your own rig, right Mick, we're our own bosses!"
The import of what Mick had just said struck Alicia like a bolt of lightening.
"You mean . . . " she began, "you mean you and Mick own your truck?"
"That's right," the red-haired trucker replied. "So's we can just take our sweet ole-time toolin' down the highway, take time out for a few minor diversions, if you know what I mean!"
Alicia soon found out what Ken meant as he turned to face Toni, grabbed her face and heatedly pressed the full, round semi-circles of the voluptuous blonde's married lips to his!
Alicia watched in disbelief: Toni was not resisting very much! Instead, she was actually holding the kiss. As she broke from Ken's powerful embrace, she said:
"Hey there big fella, take it easy!"
"Shee-it!" he replied. "I guess you ladies better get used to the idea, cause . . . tonight, we got some hard core lovin' to do!"
Jim and Fred had rented a car shortly after Alicia and Toni had left and were not far behind them. Their original intention was to find the girls on the road somewhere and surprise them. The two husbands had no inkling that their wives had been picked up by a truck, a truck that was going straight through to Phoenix.
"I thought Toni said they were only going to hitchhike on the onramps," Jim said.
"That's right," Fred said. "I heard her say it. They must've had good luck in getting rides, I've been keepin' my eye out for them. Not a sign."
"Oh well," Jim said, "if they've had good luck getting rides, all four of us should get to Phoenix about the same time. You gave the girls the name of our hotel, right?"
"Yes, The Ambassador, right?"
"Yeah, that's it!"
Unknown to the two husbands, they were actually only an hour behind the truck which their wives were riding in, and if the truck remained where it was, Fred and Jim would actually pass their wives!
