Prologue

JERRY WASN'T SURE, AFTER HE HAD PLAYED THE MATE-SWAPPING game, if that was what he really wanted. His wife, Helen, was positive, though, that it was other men she needed. Dr. Benjamin Morse, in The Sexually Promiscuous Male, could have had Jerry in mind when he wrote: "A single act of adultery might make a man feel guilty. When he and his wife commit adultery simultaneously, the guilt is lessened. When a whole host of couples commit adultery simultaneously, and when such adultery becomes a dominant code of behavior, the guilt virtually disappears, with such a large number of persons sharing the load." When Tom and Eloise started the swapping, they had already been at it so long that they had no guilt to share.
