Foreword

According to the most recent crime statistics released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, rape is the crime which is on the most dramatic upswing. Most legal jurisdictions include forced oral and anal copulation in the definition of rape. While the FBI figures do not specify the incidence of oral and/or anal rape in the statistics, most experts who are concerned with rape as a growing (perhaps epidemic) problem agree that rapists are turning more and more to anal rape as a means of satisfying their violent lusts.

In this stark novel of one terrifying night in the lives of two rapists and their victims, we gain a valuable insight into the forces that drive men to anal rape and, equally important, the effects of such perverted actions on the young and helpless women who fall prey to such a cruel and brutal fate.

Psychologists and sociologists agree that, while such action cannot be condoned by society, criminal penalties may not be the answer for those men who are driven by forces beyond their control. For good or evil, each of us is the product of our environment, and no society can be safe unless we can identify and isolate those environmental and cultural influences which turn an otherwise healthy individual into a raging threat to women who have no power to protect themselves.

Harry Appleton is one such rapist, and Sarah Watkins is one of his victims. Their explosive confrontation is told here in explicit and sometimes frightening narrative form. We do not recommend this gripping novel for the faint-hearted or for those who prefer not to face the harsh realities of modern life. For those who do read on we can assure you that you will put down this book with a better understanding of a problem that, however alien to ourselves, we must all come to grips with.
