The human condition is so unpredictable that the things we fear most are often the things that provide us the most satisfaction. Even when we consciously fight against certain acts, we sometimes come tragically to understand that nature (or our own bodies) have betrayed us.
In this gripping novel of human degradation we follow a lovely and naive young girl as she confronts herself and her own sexuality. Sexually inhibited by a fanatic man-hating mother, Laura Jones fights to keep herself pure. But her efforts are wiped away in a single evening when she meets and is brutally anally raped by a jaded man who recognizes in her luscious young body the demon she is unaware of.
The humiliation and degradation she feels is as nothing compared to what follows as she is forced into perversions that threaten to destroy her. As she sinks deeper and deeper into an ever-widening chasm, Laura is haunted by the spark of pleasure that has been aroused. She finds herself torn between the need to quench the perverted flames of desire that calls out for satisfaction, and the certain knowledge that what she is doing violates every moral concept instilled in her by society.
This frank and even sometimes shocking novel makes no brief for anal sex. Instead, it recognizes that each of us has different needs-sexual and emotional. And it graphically illustrates what can happen when perversion is presented to a young girl unable to cope.
