Conclusion

There are a multitude of reasons and motivations for oralism in America today, and we have presented only a few of them. As we have tried to point out with perfect frankness, oralism is a perfectly natural sexual activity as long as it is not practiced to the exclusion of other forms of sexual play.

Recapping: we have seen through the words of others that oralism can take many forms. We have seen the differences of attitudes on the part of various subjects presented in the case histories that accompanied each chapter of this book. The distinction has been made between the aggressive and the passive oralist on the one hand, and the passive and the aggressive practitioner of anilingus on the other. As part and parcel of these has been the relationship between sadomasochism in the personality and the response to oralism or anilingus. However, in all of these cases, oralism was not practiced to the exclusion of other forms of sex, and in that sense it was a perfectly normal and acceptable function in the marital relationship.

Since husbands have generally more sexual experience than most unmarried men, they tend to wish to experiment in their sexual relationship with their wives and thus are those who will practice oralism more than will their unmarried counterparts. In a sense, they are more sophisticated sexually and therefore more liberal in their approach to sex. For this reason, they have been the central subject of this work.

In the last case, we have seen how the imposition of an unacceptable morality drew a young couple to oralism, which they used to work out their particular problems in a normal healthy manner.
