Foreword

When a lonely, middle-aged woman and two adolescent boys are thrown together nothing much may happen. On the other hand, a great deal might happen. The results of such an encounter would depend upon the personalities of all three persons and no set formula would apply in all cases to predict the result.

The cases in which a sexual relationship might develop would be, admittedly, rare, but it is certainly no secret that such relationships have developed in past and will continue to develop in the future. The simple fact that they are rare does not mean that the study of them is unimportant. On the contrary, the fact that only one such relationship in, say, ten thousand, might occur means that in the United States there would be over 20,000 such relationships occurring each year. Thus, though rare, the actual number of such cases is staggering when overall statistics are analyzed. The actual number of cases is obviously high enough to make the matter deserving of serious study.

Yet, even if only five cases occurred in any given year, the matter would merit attention by the experts. The psychological impact that such a relationship could have on a maturing teen-age boy could be more than significant. It could be absolutely mind-boggling. The impressions made on the teen-age mind can play a major role in the formation of character. The psychological changes could follow an individual throughout his life. Americans are psychiatrist-minded, and as a nation we spend more time on our psychiatrists' couches than any other nation. Each and every experience that might put us there is worthy of study.

Another important reason for the investigation of a few isolated cases is to be considered. Psychologists have long recognized that the study of a few "abnormal" individuals can be of great importance in understanding those who are "normal". Certain tendencies are present in all human beings. In those who are abnormal some of these tendencies are present in exaggerated form, and, as such, are readily discernible for study. The results obtained are invaluable in understanding the tendencies suppressed within all of us.

For these reasons, the study of relationships which develop between older women and younger boys is important. This book attempts to present such a case in fictionalized form.

The principal character, a middle aged woman named Linda Bradley, is having an affair with two fifteen-year-old boys, and, during the course of events, her daughter becomes involved in the relationship as well.

The book is an in-depth study of events as they might actually occur. No attempt is made to censor the language or actions of the characters. To do so would be to go contrary to the very purpose of the book. The sexual aspects of the relationship are presented in detail so that the reader can study them "through the microscope." It is thus written for the mature reader with a sincere interest in understanding the complex sexual relationships which can develop between a woman and one or more boys.
