Chapter 7

"Darling?"

"Hmmm?" Jack Lurton stretched lazily, rolled over onto his left side to face his beautiful young call girl Amy. They had just enjoyed a furious bout of fucking, his forefinger buried to the hilt inside her dainty, tight bunghole, his other hand squeezing one of her juicy titties, their lips fused together while his prick had traversed the warm confines of her eager cunt.

"You had something on your mind before you came to see me, didn't you, lover?" she murmured, her hand reaching out to fondle his limp cock.

"I won't lie to you, Amy. I was going over to Theodora's place just to find out if she got my flowers. And of all things, I ran into a woman whose daughter happens to have just started working in our agency. It seems that Theodora's daddy had a little affair with the mother and produced a terrific redhead. Apparently they went to see Theodora to get some money from her, and she turned them down flat. I happened to run into them, that's all. That's why I was a little late. But you had my key, and of course you can make it permanent if you want to."

"I haven't decided yet, Jack dear. I do like you very much. And I will say, that since I met you, I haven't gone with very many fellows."

"I'd be happier if you'd give them up altogether and be my steady girl."

"Yes, I know it would be very nice. But I don't think I could. You wouldn't be faithful to me."

"Now what the hell does that mean, Amy?"

"Now don't get mad, dear. You're the one who told me all about this Theodora Ames, remember? You've got her on your mind like an obsession. You've got to get her out of it, and until you do, you won't really be able to concentrate on just one girl. Oh sure, it was wonderful what we just did, but you were fucking her, not me--don't bother to deny it, darling. It was wonderful, just the same. I only wish," here she sighed deeply and looked into his eyes with a wan little smile, "I was the one you had on your mind instead of her. It makes me sort of jealous, even if I am a whore."

"I don't like you calling yourself that, honey. Anyway, I guess you're right. I do have to get Theodora Ames out of my mind. But I've got a little score to settle with her, and maybe that will help do it."

"Do you want to tell me about it?"

"I had better not. It's not the nicest idea in the world, I'll admit. And if you know about it, you might involved. Then, if anything goes wrong, I'd have got you into something that you don't belong in. Let's just say I'd like to teach her a lesson."

"Like maybe taking her over your lap and spanking hell out of her, I suppose?"

"Again you've shown wonderful ESP, Amy girl. That's about the size of it. And I just think that maybe these two women I met a little while ago can help bring that about."

"Now you be careful, Jack Lurton!" Amy said fiercely as she pressed closer to him, and lifted her right leg and put it over his left thigh. Her little hand was still squeezing his prick to life, while her other hand stroked his chest and face. "Even if I know I'm not your girl, I still think a lot about you. And I'd hate for you to get into any kind of trouble just over that spoiled, selfish bitch."

"Don't worry, Amy. I don't propose to do anything I'll get caught at. Leastways, I think it's pretty safe. But if I should be gone for about a week and you don't hear from me, why don't you just stay here and use my apartment as your own? I'll give you enough money so you don't have to take anybody-of course I wouldn't want you to bring any other guy here."

"Jack Lurton! I may be in the life, but I'm not that low! You take that back, the idea, thinking a thing like that about me!" she whispered, giving him an angry look.

"Oh baby, I'm sorry! I didn't mean it the way it sounded. Maybe I'm a little jealous about you too. Anyway, let's forget I said it. I want you right now, honey. You do something to me."

"I know. I remind you of Theodora."

"No." He shook his head. "You're entirely different. You're good and honest and you don't lie awake nights thinking up plain meanness and how to lord it over men. I could even see marrying a girl like you and living an uncomplicated life. But I guess like most men I want something I haven't got, and that's Theodora, not for her money, I've got enough for myself and I'm not a pimp. I wouldn't care if she didn't have a dime. She just twists my guts, that's all."

"I'm going to twist something else right now and make you stop thinking of her," lovely Amy murmured huskily. Her fingers were pulling and caressing and fondling his cock till it was once again erect. Now she guided it to the soft warm pink confines of her cunthole, moving against him, and with a groan he forgot about Theodora Ames-at least for the time being.. . .

Jack Lurton had just about worked out the details of how Theodora Ames could be diverted into having a date with him, from which starting point he would be able to maneuver her out to Ruby Blanton's hideaway hunting lodge. If he just asked for a date, Theodora would of course turn him down and probably hang up on him. The best thing to do was to level with her, to pretend to have some knowledge of what was going on between her and Laurel's mother, and to offer his own services. He had the feeling that if he tried to show Theodora an escape from what appeared to be blackmail, she might just jump at the chance and ask for his help.

True, it would be acting like a Judas, but if somebody didn't do something fast to Theodora, she was going to go on her own merry way, getting worse and worse and richer and richer and riding roughshod over nice people without contributing a thing to the improvement of this the best of all possible worlds.

Ruby Branton had concocted a scheme which would leave him in the clear. "If you can get her into a car, Laurel and I can be hiding in the back seat, Jack," she proposed. "Then I can slip her a mickey or something to knock her out real fast. When she wakes up, she'll be up in Minnesota and she'll think that Laurel and I did it. Then you can come in and be the big hero and save her from a fate worse than death, get the picture?"

It sounded tempting. Perhaps if he were in the role of savior, or a knight in shining armor on a white horse, Theodora might begin to look at him in a new light. At any rate, it was certainly worth trying. The effect she had on him was as if she were gnawing at his vitals, and until he had it out with her, he knew that what Amy had said about him was all too true, that he wouldn't be good for any other woman, ever.

It was Thursday, two days away from the Fourth of July. He had three weeks of vacation coming, and this was as good a time as any to take them. They would be well spent in the pursuit of Theodora Ames' rehabilitation.

So, after work, he went over to a car rental agency and paid down a substantial deposit on a

Buick four-door sedan. That would be the conveyance in which Theodora would be taken to Minnesota and her rendezvous with reality. Now the next step was to get Theodora to get into that car. After dining at Biggs' French Restaurant on North Dearborn, he telephoned Ruby Branton and told her his plan. Laurel's mother was heartily enthusiastic: "Sounds great, Jack! But why don't you try it tonight? Look, if you wait until the Fourth, the highways are going to be full of drivers going places for the holiday, see? I'd just as soon start this thing now as any other time. By the way, I called her again last night, and I got the phone hung up on me in a helluva hurry. I owe her a little extra for the snooty way she's been treating poor little Laurel and me."

"All right. Then I'll meet you and Laurel at your place in about an hour," Jack Lurton quickly decided. "I'll phone my secretary and tell her that I'm going to St. Louis tomorrow to see a potential client, I'll write her a report which she'll get Monday, and then I'll take my vacation. Nothing really doing around the office that can't be handled by a couple of good copywriters. There's only one hitch. What if Theodora won't get into the car with me tonight?"

"Well, you're a big boy, you could knock her out and carry her out of the building, couldn't you?"

"Good God! And suppose a boy in blue happens to be wandering around just about then? No, I'm not an advertising man for nothing, I think I can figure out a way to get her down.

Just leave it to me. But you get something that'll knock Theodora out without hurting her -like maybe chloroform or laudanum."

"I'll have it. Give me about an hour before you come."

"Let's see-that would make it about nine. All right. Then we'll go right over to Theodora's."

At about nine-twenty, Jack Lurton parked the Buick sedan in the parking lot behind the building where Theodora Ames lived. Laurel and Ruby were in the back seat. Luck was with him thus far, because there was hardly any traffic on any of the streets around the building, and the parking lot was just about deserted. He could get Theodora out the back way if he had to, but he really didn't want to hit her. Because then she would know who was behind the whole idea, and Ruby's notion of him being the little hero who would come in and save her at the last minute really appealed to him.

His heart was beating faster than usual as he lit a cigarette, strolled nonchalantly into the building lobby, and rang Theodora's bell.

Her arrogant voice floated through the intercom: "Who is it?"

"It's Jack Lurton, Theodora. I've got some very important news for you."

"I'll bet. Like wanting to take me out and maul me. No, thanks."

"Wait a minute, it's not that at all. I think I can help you."

"Help me, with what?"

"Aren't you being bothered by some woman who wants to shake you down for some money because of your father's indiscretion some years back?" he gambled all on a single throw of the dice.

There was a moment of waiting, and he swore under his breath. If it didn't work, he'd never get to see Theodora. And then suddenly, her voice floated back to him: "All right, come on up!" And then the buzzer sounded to admit entry to the inner door and the elevators.

As the elevator went slowly up to her floor, Jack Lurton rehearsed with himself exactly what he was going to say. He had to make it convincing. He had to get Theodora outside and into the Buick. After that, they would have to play it by ear.

As he approached her door, it opened and Theodora stood framed in the doorway, wearing a white rayon dress, with narrow shoulder-straps that showed off the lovely creamy glory of her chest and just a hint of the bosom valley, as well as her beautifully rounded bare arms. She was wearing clip-on pearl earrings, and her hair was coiffed in an upsweep which made her look extremely haughty. "What's this all about. Jack?" she demanded coldly.

"That shakedown your father's girlfriend wanted to pull on you, that's what, Theodora."

"Well, you're lucky you found me in. I was just getting ready to take a cab to the airport."

"Oh?"

"Yes, I'm going to Acapulco. I need the rest. My nerves have been just terrible ever since my parents died. And I'd like to forget all that, and just get away from things."

'That's a very good idea. But you better listen to me first, because otherwise when you get back, you might find yourself involved in a nasty scandal," he slyly offered.

"Come in for a minute. But only a minute. I'm going to catch a midnight flight."

He thanked his lucky stars that he had decided to pull off the coup tonight instead of waiting until Friday or Saturday. He came in, offered her a cigarette from his pack which she declined, and she sat warily down on a footstool while he stood before her. "Look, I know this is a bad time, but it so happens that the girl who claims to be your father's illegitimate daughter is working at a place I know," he said glibly.

'That's not surprising. She has to have money to live, I suppose, only she isn't going to get it from me, the little bitch," Theodora said nastily. "Is that all your news?"

"Not quite. You see, I have a friend who hired her, and we got to talking, and I found out who she is and what she wants. So I called her and I persuaded her to have some common sense. She's downstairs now, and she says she'll withdraw everything if you'll do her a favor."

"What favor?"

"She said she wants to talk to you. But I gather she's in a sort of obliging mood and I would advise it, Theodora, because even with false charges, a girl like that could make a nasty stink in this town. It wouldn't do you any good to smear your parents' name or yours."

"Well, all right. Look, be a dear and carry down my two suitcases. I'll talk to that bitch and then I'll get me a cab or you can find me one and take me out to the airport."

'That's fair enough." He glanced over at the wall near the door and saw the two suitcases. Theodora rose, went to the closet and took out a fur-trimmed cape. "It might be cool in Mexico," she said casually.

It was going to be very hot for Theodora Ames, and it wasn't going to be Mexico. Jack Lurton felt his pulses pounding now with a kind of exultant triumph. "I think this is a very smart thing on your part, Theodora. It'll be over in a jiffy, and then you can have your vacation without any worries," he told her with an earnest smile.

"I must say, you've taken a lot on yourself prying into my affairs, Jack Lurton," she said nastily as she gave him a stony glare at the door. "But of course, if you can get this bitch off my neck, you'll be doing me a big favor. But don't expect anything from it. If you think you're going to get in bed with me just on the strength of this, you've really wasted your time but good."

"I didn't have any such notion."

"Just so you understand. Come along!" Her manner was that of a great lady contemptuously ordering a lackey about, and he flushed under the whiplash of her contempt. He took a firm grip on the suitcases, followed her to the elevator, and they went down together.

"Where is she?" Theodora Ames haughtily demanded as they went out into the street. "In the parking lot behind the building." "All right, let's get it over with fast!" "Sure thing."

"I don't see how you managed to convince her to give up this nonsense. But I suppose I should be grateful to you," Theodora said with a shrug of her lovely shoulders. "What car is she in?"

'That blue Buick sedan," he gestured to it.

Theodora walked up to the front door of the car, opened it and got in. Laurel was sitting behind the wheel, and she regarded Theodora with a mocking smile: "Hi, Princess. Nice to see you again, I don't think."

"Now you wait a minute, you bitch," Theodora hissed, "if you brought me out here just to insult me, I'll really start a suit of my own. I'll have my lawyer throw you in jail for a lot of things, including blackmail."

"You will?" Laurel giggled.

Theodora was about to speak when suddenly Ruby Branton, who had been crouching behind the front seat, straightened, reached over and clamped a cloth soaked in chloroform over Theodora's mouth and nostrils. A moaning gasp was heard, Theodora raised her hands to the cloth, but Laurel at once caught her wrists. In a few moments, it was all over. The haughty heiress' head slumped forward.

"Great! Help me get her into the back, Mama!" Laurel gleefully exclaimed.

Jack Lurton unlocked the trunk of the Buick, put in Theodora's suitcases, locked the trunk again and aided the two women in lifting the inert body of Theodora Ames into the back seat and laying her on her back on the floor. Then, getting behind the wheel, he called back to Ruby, "You better give me directions on how to get to that little hick town of yours. I've never been to Minnesota."

"Don't worry, Jack, we'll get there. And when we do, I'm going to have lots of fun with that nasty girl who has the name and the money and who doesn't deserve it at all!" Ruby Branton fiercely avowed.
