Foreword
Although Americans appear to the rest of the world as frank and open people, the truth is often the opposite when relating on a personal basis. This is particularly true regarding sexual matters.
The fact is, Americans are only now beginning to learn to discuss sex and sexuality with candor, and usually that is within the limits of marital sex.
While no one is advocating sex as the main topic of conversation, and while sexual privacy is very important, many adults harbor fears about themselves and their sexual behavior that could be erased if they were more aware of other people's behavior. Most of us have been brought up to feel at least slightly ashamed or guilty if our reactions to undesirable sexual situations differ from what we consider to be appropriate. In discussing sex with others, people find out how truly normal they are.
THE LIBRARIAN'S HOT FUN-a shocking story, certainly, but one which may not be as unbelievable as it first appears, one which could hold many valuable lessons for a large segment of our diverse population.
