Chapter 6

NO REST AT THE RESORT

A full moon hung lazily over Manhattan that evening as Dan, in his new blue suit, watched all the beautiful young things walking into the hotel lobby. Boy! This sounds like Shangri La, he almost yelled, as he made his way into the crowded lobby and got on line behind a big platinum blonde who was wearing one of those open back dresses.

Wow, he said to himself as he stared at her. Then his eyes fell to her wide inviting ass. Her dress was so sheer that he could see the folds of her cheeks protruding through it.

Dan's penis couldn't resist an invitation like that, as it almost tore through his pants. Slowly, he began pushing up against her, taking full advantage of the pressing crowd behind him to use as an excuse if she said anything.

Much to Dan's surprise, she spread the cheeks of her huge ass and Dan could feel the head of his cock sinking in between them. She had given him complete carte blanche, while keeping up a steady line of conversation with her two girlfriends, never once turning around to look at him.

Beads of sweat dripped from Dan's forehead, as he pumped in and out as fast as he dared, being careful not to make it too obvious to the rest of the people on line. Just as he was about to pop his nuts, a stupid sounding voice said, "Are you a college graduate?"

"Yes," the girl in front of him said, as she spread her legs and pulled away, leaving Dan standing there with an enormous hard-on.

"Are you?" the dopey sounding voice started to ask.

"Yes, I am," Dan answered quickly straining his neck to see which way she was going.

'That will be five dollars."

"Okay, okay," he answered as he nervously pulled out his wallet and dropped the five dollar bill on the table.

"Don't forget your ticket," the voice called after him.

Dan ran back, picked up the ticket, and then began searching for his mysterious girlfriend, but he knew that even if he did see her, there were many girls wearing open back dresses and besides, he never did get to see her face. He was so busy with her ass-hole, that he wound up being the ass-hole.

"This way to the dance," a uniformed guard called out as he pointed toward the elevators.

And once again, Dan enjoyed the brief contact of a female posterior in the tightly quartered elevator as it rocketed upward to the twenty-eighth floor where the dance being held.

As the elevator door opened, Dan saw the enormous ballroom cluttered with beautiful women. He quickly decide' not to waste am time, as he noticed the stag line of hungry looking guys gaping at the girls.

Schmucks! he said to himself. They'll never get anywhere standing there like that. You have to be aggressive if you want to meet women.

Putting his philosophy into action, Dan approached a gorgeous looking redhead, who was standing talking to her girlfriends.

"How about a dance?" he asked.

She gave him a look as though he was something that had crawled out from under a rock. "Get lost!" she said, turning her back on him and continuing her conversation.

"Why, you dirty..."

"Hold it," a voice behind him said. Dan quickly turned with his fists raised to defend himself.

"Take it easy. I'm on your side," a thin, emaciated looking fellow with thick eyeglasses said, holding out his hand in friendship.

Dan looked at his hand, then at him. "I know how you feel, friend," he said. "But take my word. These bitches aren't worth getting beaten up for."

"What do you mean, beaten up?" Dan asked with a temper in his voice.

"Those two bouncers over there," he tilted his head toward the two gorillas standing against the wall in dinner jackets.

"They don't look so tough," Dan said boastfully.

"Don't let their clothes fool you. Both are ex-prize fighters and in a place like this, the woman is always right."

"Well, I guess you're right," Dan said, cooling down a bit and at the same time wondering if this guy was a fag trying to pick him up.

"You have a big resort crowd here tonight," he explained, "and if you're not in the clique, well, you don't stand much of a chance of meeting anyone."

"How are these resorts?" Dan asked. "I was thinking of spending my vacation at one of them."

"Save your money, friend," he answered. "They're nothing but a rat race like this, with room and board. Believe me, I've been to all of them. You meet the same independent shit that you meet here." Looking across the room, he said, "There's a broad I know. See you, pal." Before Dan could answer, he melted into the crowd.

Dan eyed the redhead with venom, then looking at the two bouncers, decided to forget it.

The next girl that he asked to dance was a little better mannered.

She at least said, no thanks.

History kept repeating itself until Dan began feeling like a leper. "Maybe I'd better cut out of here before I blow my top and punch one of these stuck-up shits in the mouth," he muttered angrily as he headed toward the exit.

Just as he was about to leave, a friendly female voice along side of him asked, "Are you from Tamarack?"

Dan's head turned and he found himself looking into a beautiful pair of dark brown eyes.

'Tamarack?" his voice rose questioningly.

"Yes, aren't you Herbie Miller, Dave Palmer's friend from Bensonhurt?"

Dan paused, not quite knowing how to answer the question.

"Well, aren't you?" she asked, her voice showing a sign of impatience.

Dan thought quickly. If I say no, she will walk away, so I'll play it by ear. "Yeah, I'm Herbie Miller," he smiled.

"Well, it sure took you a long time to come to that decision," she said. "Don't you remember me? I'm Lila. We met at the casino up there."

"Oh, yeah," Dan answered.

"You know, I shouldn't even be talking to you."

"Why not?" Dan asked cautiously.

"Because you take a girl's telephone number and never call, that's why."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I had meant to call you, but I had misplaced your phone number, and..."

"Well!" she interrupted. "You could have gotten it from Dave. All he had to do was ask Marsha. She would have given it to him to give to you."

"Yeah, well-" Dan felt himself being pushed up against a brick wall, and he knew damn well that if he wanted to get to know this curvaceous, sexy-looking five foot two brunette with those gorgeous dark brown eyes, that were already sending messages to his reproductive organs, he would have to work his way out, but fast. "Well, I'll tell you the truth," he said, looking squarely into her beautiful dark eyes. "I was afraid to call you."

"Afraid?" she asked, her voice taking on a sound of new interest.

"Yes," he answered, "because you're the kind of a girl that's not just a one night deal."

"What kind of a girl am I?" she asked, looking now very seriously at him.

"Well, you're the kind of a girl that makes a man want to marry her, and at the time I just wasn't ready for marriage."

She looked deep into his eyes, with a rather puzzled look on her face. "Are you giving me a fine, Herbie?"

"I swear it," he said, "just as sure as my name is Herbie Miller."

"But you had the biggest reputation at Tamarack for being a wolf. Why, you even tried to get my best girlfriend, Marsha into bed with you only fifteen minutes after you walked me to my door."

Dan thought fast, then his voice took on a serious tone. "Look, Lila, a man is only a wolf until he meets the right girl."

"Are you trying to teO me that...."

"Yes," Dan said, as he stared down into her beautiful face. "It was love at first sight."

"Well then, if it was love at first sight, how come you had such difficulty remembering me when I came over to you?"

Think fast, Danny boy, he said to himself. "Well, I was so shocked when I saw you again that I just didn't know what to say."

'Then, why did you admit that you were Herbie?" she asked, the puzzled look returning to her face once again.

"Because I decided that if it's my destiny to meet you again, who am I to fight fate?"

Boy, what corn, he thought to himself. But he could see from the expression on her face that she was eating it all up and enjoying it.

"Am I forgiven, Lila?" he asked, with a boyish look on his face.

"Oh, Herbie, I just don't know what to say," her eyes glistened lovingly at him.

Dan could see that he had hit the target, but he also knew that if he didn't get her out of there fast, he would be running the danger of exposure.

"Are you with any of the gang?" he asked, holding his breath as he waited her answer.

"Well, I am with two other girls, but no one that you know. However, I expect Dave and Marsha to drop in this evening. They knew that I would be here and said that they would give me a lift home if I didn't meet anyone."

Dan's mind raced rapidly. "Oh, oh," he wailed, putting his hand to his head.

"What's the matter?" she asked, looking frightened.

"I just remembered!"

"What?" her curiosity mounting by the second.

"That I left my brand new raincoat on the rack at the coffee shop just before I came up here. Look, Lila," he said, looking desperately at her. "Will you do me a favor and leave with me now. I don't want to lose it and every second counts."

"Well, I did promise Dave and Marsha that I...."

Seeing the pleading look on Dan's face, she didn't bother to finish the sentence. "Well, I guess an emergency is an emergency." a

"Good girl," Dan smiled. "You don't have a coat or anything in the check room, do you?" he asked quickly.

"No," she answered, "but I should at least tell my girlfriends that I'm leaving."

Dan paused, then looking appealingly into her eyes and said, "Remember what you said, an emergency is an emergency."

"You're right," she answered. "I'll phone them tomorrow and explain."

Dan's stomach bobbed about nervously as they made their way hand in hand toward the elevator. His only fear was running into her friends before they got out of the place. He pressed her hand reassuringly as the elevator descended to the main floor. As the door swung open, a chorus of voices rang out.

"Surprise!"

"Oh, it's them," Lila said.

Dan's heart sank to the pit of his stomach. Damn the luck, he thought to himself, another lousy minute and we would have been out of here.

"Herbie, I want you to meet John and Alice."

Suddenly a ray of hope broke through the clouds.

"Hi, fellow," the tall, lanky studious looking type that was introduced as John waved.

"That's not the Herbie that you met at Tamarack, is it?" Alice asked.

"In the flesh," Lila smiled.

"Well, I want you to know," she said looking crossly at Dan, "that the least you could have done was to have phoned her."

"Now, Alice," Lila interrupted. "It's all right. He explained the reason."

Dan coughed uneasily as he looked at his watch.

"Well, if you're willing to buy his story, it's okay with me," she answered, giving Dan a suspicious look. "But why are you leaving so early?"

Dan gave Lila an impatient look and she quickly answered, "I'll phone you tomorrow and explain everything."

"Well, before you break the sound barrier," retorted Alice, "do you have a second to tell me if Dave and Marsha are upstairs?"

"No, but they should be here any minute."

Dan forced a smile as he broke into the conversation. "Well, nice meeting you people. So long," he waved, gripping Lila's arm firmly as he headed her toward the main entrance like a thief who had just stolen the crown jewels.

Alice, looking after them said, "Well, if I live to be a thousand, I'll never understand women. The poor sap waits four weeks for that ass to call and leaves every weekend open for him, and he didn't even have the courtesy to phone."

"He seemed like a nice sort of chap to me," answered John.

"Oh, you men," she said, glaring disgustedly at him. "You always stick together, no matter what."

"How far is this place?" Lila asked, as they got into a cab.

"Oh, it's on the other side of town," Dan answered as he pushed in next to her.

"Where to, Bub?" the cab driver asked.

"Er...." Dan paused. "Let us off at Lexington and 51st."

"Do you know where it is?" she asked.

"Yes, it's right around there. I will know the place once I see it."

It took a sharp bit of maneuvering to get her out of the dance the way he did. Now he knew that he would have to pull something equally clever to keep the farce going.

"I want you to know that I appreciate your leaving with me the way you did," Dan said with a serious look on his face.

"Don't be silly. It's the least I could have done."

"Lexington and 51st," the driver called out.

Dan carefully held the door open for Lila as she got out of the cab. Then, swinging the door shut, he gave the driver a bill and said, "Keep the change."

"Thanks, sport," he answered as he pulled away from the curb.

Dan, looking up and down the block hopefully, spotted a restaurant. "This way," he said, holding her arm as they walked toward 53rd Street. As luck would have it, there were two restaurants on the same block. "This is it," Dan said as he held the door open for her.

Once inside, he headed toward the booths, making a convincing search for his non-existent raincoat.

The waiter, seeing this, rushed toward them. "Did you forget anything sir?" he asked.

It couldn't have worked out better if it had been rehearsed. Dan said, "Yes, I forgot my raincoat. It was a blue one."

The waiter said, "Let me check with the cashier to see if anyone turned it in."

Dan pretended nervousness as he watched Lola's reactions through the corner of his eye.

"I'm sorry, sir," said the waiter, returning with a disappointed look on his face, "but nothing has been turned in. Would you like to leave your name and phone just in case?"

Dan thought quickly. "Well, yes, that's a very good idea." Pulling out a ball point pen from his breast pocket, he quickly scribbled a phony name and phone number on the slip of paper that the waiter had handed him.

"I'm sorry you lost your coat," Lila said, looking sympathetically at him.

"Oh, that's all right," Dan said, putting a brave smile on his face. "It was worth losing a coat just to meet you again." Lila smiled back at him as they walked out into the street.

"Where would you like to go, Lila?" he asked.

"Well, we could go back to meet Marsha and Dave," she answered enthusiastically.

Dan regretted that he had asked. Thinking quickly, he said, "Do you mind if I become very selfish and want to spend the evening only with you?"

They both laughed as they nonchalantly started to walk up Lexington Avenue.

Dan knew (hat unless he knocked her off tonight, exposure would be imminent. As they strolled arm and arm along Lexington Avenue, Dan looking up at the moon said, "What a beautiful night for romance."

She smiled in agreement as his arm encircled her waist possessively. Then, pulling her toward him, he gave her a hot, passionate kiss right on the mouth. Surprisingly, she responded immediately by throwing her arms around him and for a few moments Dan felt himself sailing through space.

"Get a hotel room," some punks in a passing car yelled, breaking the heavenly spell. Dan wanted to yell out for them to go fuck themselves, but checked himself in time. Lila was blushing and looked away from Dan.

"Aw, c'mon, honey," he said, "don't let those jealous punks spoil our evening."

"You're right," she said, looking up at him, eyes aglow.

Dan could tell she was happy. Maybe those punks had something there with that hotel crack. Putting his arm once more around her waist possessively, and hers around his, he said, "Maybe those punks had something there when they said, hotel room."

She stopped cold, pulled her arm off from around his waist and in no uncertain terms said, "Forget it."

Dan paused then smiled. "I was only kidding, honey."

"Look, Herbie, I admit I do like you a lot, but remember one thing, I'm not a whore."

"Sure, sweetie," he smiled at her. "I never thought for a moment that you were."

She looked searchingly into his eyes, then feeling he was sincere, she relaxed as he once again put his arm around her waist and they continued to walk.

Strike one, he thought to himself and there are too many people around to try anything in the street. And if she won't go to a hotel, he reasoned, she sure as hell wouldn't go to my place. That means I'll have to make my move when I get her home.

As they strolled toward the subway he said, "How about heading home?"

She looked a little surprised at his suggestion. Then, with a somewhat philosophical look said, "Okay."

The ride in the subway was interesting, as Dan let her do all the talking and she sure could talk. He had found out, by the time he had gotten her home, that she had been married to some character for about a week and then he upped and left her. The marriage had been annulled, she assured him, but it was a painful memory in more ways than one.

When they got to her place, he was surprised that she was sharing a furnished room with her mother, who, by a stroke of luck for him, was in the hospital getting over a hysterectomy. The place was old-fashioned and run down, but clean. She explained that her mother was a fanatic when it came to keeping a clean apartment.

He also learned that her father, an ex-jailbird, was separated from her mother by mutual consent and it was just her mother and her who shared the room.

"Would you like some coffee?" she asked, as she hung up his jacket.

"Coffee? Er, do you have something stronger?"

"No, my mother doesn't believe in having anything stronger than that around the house," she said looking searchingly at him.

"Well, she sounds like a very nice lady," Dan said.

"She is," Lila quickly assured him.

"Well, she must be to have such a sweet daughter like you," he said smiling.

"Flattery will get you everywhere," she smiled.

Okay, Dan thought, looking around the room quickly, this is it. Its already near one a.m. so I'd better go for broke.

Walking over to her from behind, he pushed his hard-on up against the crack of her soft behind and embraced her large tits with his hands and then began kissing the nape of her neck. She offered no resistance and from the way she was breathing, he could tell that she was getting hot.

Turning her around, he pulled her towards him and began soul kissing her and she responded. It was only when he dropped his hand to her pussy that she pushed him away violently from her.

"I told you I wasn't a whore!" her voice raised in anger.

Dan, putting a serious look on his face said, "I know you're not, but when a guy's in love with a girl, it's only natural that he wants to make love to her."

"Love? You mean that you're in love with me?" she asked with a dumbfounded look on her face. "But how could you? We hardly know each other."

Dan, still maintaining his serious look said, "Didn't you ever hear of love at first sight."

"Well yes, but...."

Before she could finish the sentence, Dan closed in on her, kissing her passionately, his hand dropping once again down to her pussy. This time she offered no resistance as his hand slipped between her panties and he began fingering her.

"Oh Herbie," her voice rose in passion, as her body began to tremble from his rapid fingering movements. "I love you, too."

That's what Dan had been waiting for her to say. He knew that once she had committed herself into saying those three magic words, she would have no excuse to back out.

Quickly pulling his hand out from under her panties, he began to pull down his pants and remove his shorts. Lila looked at him dumbfounded as he stood standing in front of her with only his shirt and tie on.

"Well, Lila, what are you waiting for?" he asked. "You said you love me."

"Well, I...."

Dan, seeing that she needed more persuading, embraced her once again, then slowly began pulling down her panties while he whispered sweet nothings into her ear. Then, pushing his rigid cock between her outstretched legs, he began pushing it in, when all of a sudden there came a loud knock at the door followed by a whistle.

"Oh, that's my father," she almost yelled.

"Your father?" Dan's heart stood still as his cock dropped out of her pussy.

Again the knock at the door. Dan looked at her frantically. "Maybe he'll go away."

"No, he knows I am home. He can see the light in the door, and besides, he has a key. Just a minute," Lila called out, as she quickly bent toward the floor and began pulling up her panties.

Dan quickly put on his pants, then realizing that he forgot to put his shorts on, quickly threw them under the bed as Lila opened the door.

Her father, a big husky bruiser with short-cropped gray hair, gave Dan a hard look as he walked in. Dan feigned an innocent smile as Lila introduced him to her father who quickly looked at the bed. Then noticing it was unruffled, relaxed the hard look on his face to a friendly smile as he shook Dan's hand.

"We just got home from the dance, Dad," she said. "What brings you around at this time of night?"

"I was just passing by," he said, "and when I spotted the lights on from outside, I thought I'd drop in to say hello."

"Do you want some coffee?" she asked.

"No, I just had a snack. I have the car double-parked outside." Looking at Dan, he asked, "I can give you a lift if you're leaving now."

Dan knew by his tone what he meant, so quickly taking the hint, he asked for Lila's phone number, which she eagerly gave him. Then saying good-night, he left with her father, who drove him to the subway.

Thanking him for the lift, he walked through the turnstile, thinking to himself, how close he had come to getting laid and then-

"Oh well, there's always tomorrow," he said aloud, as he pulled out the telephone number she had give him and looked it over carefully.

Or will there be a tomorrow, he thought, if she finds out that I am not Herbie. Then, visualizing himself in the embrace of her nude body, he unzipped his pants and pulled off a quick load on the deserted platform, coming at just about the same time as the train.
