Epilogue
That day proved a turning point in Reva's life. She never sold another carpet again.
The man who threw a carpet over her naked body was Detective Lieutenant Fred Cambridge. He was thirty-four-years old, already had nearly fifteen years with the Nassau County Police, and from the moment he saw her he fell in love with her, covered as she was with the semen of other men.
He called on her the following day, Sunday, to find out how she was, and it seemed ordained the two of them fall in love. It was ridiculous for him to ask her to marry him after knowing her only one day, and it was equally ridiculous for Reva to accept, but she was as much in love with him as he was with her.
They had their blood test on Monday, got the license on Tuesday, and they were married on Thursday. To Reva's delight, he proved to be every bit as much a man as he looked. Once he got her into bed, there was no stopping him.
This time there would be no divorce. This time, Reva was sure of both, her man and herself. Reva would never again have to sell carpeting, nor would she have to look for action on the outside. Her husband gave her all she needed.
One day, as she drove past The Jewel Carpet Store, she saw another saleslady come out, a blonde. It was obvious from the innocent look of her she had just been hired. Reva smiled to herself. Knowing Len as she did, the blonde wouldn't remain innocent much longer. She only hoped the woman had as happy an ending to her upcoming story as she, Reva, had enjoyed.
