Foreword
Behold the modern American woman, freer, more independent, and more aware of life in general than any woman in any country at any other period in history or pre-history, since the beginning of evolution. Yet this modern American woman, with certain exceptions is no less a slave to men now than she ever was, and that is because she chooses to be.
Once, when a woman was forced to do something, she had the excuse that she did it because she had no choice. Today, that excuse is no longer valid.
Our heroine is a perfect example. Her way of life is something chosen by her and not forced on her. She is not a drudge, she is not a housewife, but she is a model. She is a model by choice and not by force. Yet in spite of this freedom of choice, our heroine allows herself to be led into "bondage."
But then the modern American woman is no different from the modern American man. There are leaders and there are followers. The majority of people are followers because they elect to follow.
Our heroine learns the hard way that leaders are leaders because they have the courage to make decisions, right or wrong. It is this quality, this ability to make decisions, that makes leaders stand out, and this is what our heroine discovers for herself.
