Foreword
Pedophilic incest—the sexual attraction between adult and adolescent blood relatives—has been one of the biggest taboos of society. In today's more tolerant outlook, the result of a nationwide attempt to free ourselves from the harmful and traumatic repressions of the mid-Victorian era, we are beginning to examine this phenomenon with considerable more curiosity and earnest sincerity in an attempt to learn why it does exist and why, indeed, it appears to be far more widespread than we imagined.
Until recently, it was thought that pedophilic incestual relationships occurred mainly in the ghettos, where the squalid crowding in of large families made erotic nearness an almost inevitable occurrence. This has long since been disproved by experts who indicate from intensive faculty surveys conducted in many urban centers that one finds even more sexual relationships taking place between adults and young, or juvenile, blood-kin in middle-and upper-income groups. They reason that the reputation and income of such better privileged family groups deter both discovery and legal prosecution of incestuous and pedophilic liaisons.
Edified as to erotic manifestations, today's boy or girl in the puberty age group reveals a kind of curious fascination with the sexual modus operandi. Discussing sex with their own young companions, they come to regard it as tantamount to "being grownup," and thus the prospect of sexual initiation by the adult carries with it a kind of rewarding accolade of maturity. This in turn becomes an emotional crutch by which the sexually awakened child can believe himself or herself elevated into the ranks of the adult and so gratify his or her own budding psyche.
It is our fervent hope that this book, A Lesson from Uncle, will provide the reader with greater insight into how and why this sexual phenomenon continues to occur with constantly greater prevalence.
