Foreword

Only a few weeks ago, there was a feature article in many of the national newspapers about police in one of our West Coast cities smashing a prostitution ring that covered three counties and involved over a hundred different girls. Surprising? No, not particularly. But what was surprising was that nearly all of these young women were housewives or working girls ,who moonlighted in this oldest of professions for some extra cash. Shocking? Well, maybe today nothing shocks us very severely. But just how does this sort of thing happen? How does a young bride, a housewife, a mother-to-be, become involved in something as lurid and as evil as flesh for sale?

This is a question we hope to shed at least some light on with the work you hold in your hand. To be sure, it's only one case out of hundreds, but it's a beginning. It isn't pleasant watching an innocent young married woman become something wicked and perverse, nor do we delight in telling her story. But it is a story that bares telling, that cries out for telling if it can save one woman, or one marriage from such a fate. Though our chosen locale is Southern Florida, it could have happened anywhere, including right in your own hometown!
