Chapter 8
"That was quite a meal," Alan Kal said to Laura. "Your mother is an excellent hostess."
"Tell it to mother," Laura responded as they mounted the stairs to the bedrooms. It was time to get into their costumes. The party would take place in the basement of the Enders mansion.
"I'm telling it to you. You can tell her," Kal retorted.
"Mother was quite taken with you."
"She's quite a woman. To look at her I'd never guess she was your mother. She looks very youthful."
"Don't let mother hear that or she'll be impossible to live with."
"You have quite a family here."
"Do you like them?"
"I dig your mother," he admitted as they stopped outside Laura's bedroom door. T think your sister's tough even if she's not my style, but I don't dig that wild-looking cousin of yours, Mickey."
"No one digs Mickey until they really get to know him."
"D'you dig him?"
"I never permitted myself to get to know him."
"Who's that kooky-looking character he brought here with him?"
"His partner in the service station he owns. Dick is harmless enough, even if he stared at Myrna all through the meal like she belonged on his plate."
"She looked right through him, like he wasn't even there."
"Myrna's that way. She never likes anything she can come by easily. But just let some man act hard to get, and she'll sneak into his bed before he realizes she's there."
"Your sister really likes her sex, huh?"
"Doesn't everyone?"
"But you told me you were a virgin."
"I am. But one way or another that situation will be remedied tonight."
"One way or another?"
"If the family curse doesn't descend on me, I hope you will."
"Are you serious? I mean, are you telling me you want me to...."
"Don't behave like a dummy. We're both mature. We both know what we want. I knew it the moment I saw you, this morning. And when I saw the obvious way I'd affected you, I knew you'd be the one."
"Laura, I'm crazy about you. I know it sounds whacky, but I flipped out the second I saw you."
"Help me get through this night and well have a long time to get to know one another."
"Wow! I mean, like wow! I won't let you out of my sight."
"Wrong. Right now I'm going into my room to change. And you're going into your room to change. I'll meet you out here in twenty minutes, and we can go down to the party together. And from that point on you can keep me in sight."
"Every second, Laura. Every second."
They disappeared into their respective rooms as Mickey Enders and Dick Mario came up the stairs.
"Looks like we both got a fuckin' problem," Dick was saying to Mickey. "That fuckin' Myrna is some fuckin' piece, but she don't pay no fuckin' attention to me. And your other fuckin' cousin has that fuckin' private eye hangin' all over her. You'll never get into her."
"Once you put on your costume and mask, get your ass downstairs," Mickey instructed. "Don't let Myrna know it's you in that costume. This way, when she gets down to the party and first sees you, she'll think the two of you were fated for one another. And don't worry about Laura. I'll crack her cunt before the night's out."
"Hey, that fuckin' aunt of yours is some fuckin' piece. I wouldn't mind humpin' her."
"My uncle once told me she was a great cocksucker. I hear she still gets hers on the side."
"Speakin' of your fuckin' uncle, what happened to him? Where was he tonight?"
"One of the servants told me he decided to stay in his room. He doesn't like having anything to do with my aunt's parties, even if the party's to honor his two daughters. Come on, let's get into those dumb costumes, already."
Buttoning the last button of her Bo-Peep costume, Myrna Enders returned to behold herself in the bathroom mirror. She twirled around once and laughed gaily. She was the prettiest Bo-Peep she'd ever seen. Too bad she had to wear a mask and hide her loveliness. But at midnight she would unmask. By that time she'd have selected her bedroom companion. Lord but she could use one. It had been more than a week since she'd last been laid, and it wasn't healthy for the human body to abstain for so long.
Even with the mask on she had a stunning, mysterious aura about her. The men would flock to her, and she would gaily shake them off, just as she'd shaken off the eyes of that fool her cousin Mickey had brought for dinner.
The tight bodice made her huge titties look bigger than ever as they swelled above her tiny waist. And the flaring lower half of the pink dress failed to hide the fullness of her hips. Her long, lovely hair was in no way hidden by the bonnet.
Yes, tonight would be a grand night, provided it wasn't marred by the family ghoul. She hoped he'd remain locked in his grave. Neither she nor Laura deserved to have their party disrupted by a family curse. There would be more than a hundred people attending.
Myrna decided the smart thing to do would be to wait until everyone else was there, and make a grand entrance, herself. Yes, that was what she would do.
One thing Myrna liked about her sister was Laura's refusal to attempt to compete with her, no matter what she did.
In sports, Myrna was a tennis buff, so Laura had gone in for swimming. When it came to men, Laura liked short men while she, Myrna, went for the tall, dark, and handsome type.
Myrna's greatest competition had come from her own mother. Essie Enders had tits as hot as her taller daughter, and when she saw a male she liked, she let nothing get in the way of her temporary acquisition of said male. More than once she had taken a man away from her daughter, angering Myrna no end.
Wonder what kind of costume mother's wearing? Myrna thought of herself.
Had she known, she'd have burst a blood vessel. Essie Enders was also wearing a Bo-Peep costume, the same color as that of her daughter's, and where Myrna was wearing flat shoes, Essie was wearing three inch heels, making it all but impossible to tell her apart from her daughter once the masks were in place.
Essie hadn't planned on dressing like Myrna, but Myrna hadn't disclosed what costume she would be wearing until early that same morning, and by then it was too late for Essie to change. And having dressed in the costume immediately after dinner, she decided to hurry down to the basement and make certain everything was in order. Unlike Myrna, she detested grand entrances.
by being there ahead of almost everyone else, she had the opportunity to see the people as they came in, mentally picking out the one in which she was most interested. What she noted was the fact that married men were no less horny than singles, and they usually behaved as good as, if not better than their single counterparts once they were on a counterpane.
Opening her door, she peered out into the hallway. It was empty. Now was as good a time as any to hurry down to the basement ballroom. Taking her shepherdess's crook, she left her room and hurried down the stairs. Once on the main floor, she opened the door leading to the basement. All the guests would be coming in by way of another door from the outside.
Descending the second set of stairs, she found herself in the mansion's mammoth basement. Off to the right were a group of small rooms; a boiler room, a laundry room used by the servants, a game room, a walk-in freezer, and an extra kitchen where the servants prepared food for a party such as the one they were having this night.
Turning left, she passed through a doorway into the ballroom. The walls were covered with various pictures, ranging from Donald Duck to The Phantom Of The Opera, to Superman.
The room was a montage of brightly lit colors with red fluorescents bathing one corner, green lights in another corner, and amber bulbs lighting up a third corner. The fourth corner, where the band would be playing, was blacked out for the moment. The center of the room was crisscrossed with violet spotlights. Slung across the room, high above the heads of the incoming guests were the words HAPPY BIRTHDAY TWINS.
Blue lights went on in the darkened corner and the band assumed its pace. It was a fifteen piece band, and they uncased their instruments and began playing.
Essie walked over to the long buffet table on the right side of the room and checked the sweetmeats, rice, stew, chow mein, shish kebab, and various other meats spread before the guests who were already pouring in from the outside door across the room.
Essie had ordered a box with masks be left by the door in case anyone arriving forgot to bring one. She was the perfect hostess.
Turning, she saw the tall, lanky man wearing the Little Tommy Tucker outfit. She hadn't seen him enter with the other guests, and with his mask on she had no way of knowing it was Dick Mario. But she liked the way he walked and decided to see if his acquaintance was worth cultivating.
As far as he was concerned, Dick Mario took one look at Essie Enders and decided she was Myrna. And she looked like wow. He was both surprised and overjoyed when she walked over, pushing aside other people who were now beginning to gather in great numbers, and started talking to him. And for what was probably the first time in his life, since he'd learned the word, Dick started forming sentences without saying "fuckin'."
This, more than anything else, was why Essie Enders didn't recognize him.
In less than twenty minutes the party was in full swing. When Alan Kal and Laura came down in the Raggedy costumes, they joined right into the full swing of things, dancing together, chatting with others, laughing, joking, and enjoying themselves. But both stayed in sight of one another. Aside from the fact that it was Kal's job to protect the Enders twins, he'd have died before letting something happen to Laura. When he saw Essie Enders across the room, he assumed she was Myrna because of the costume. He took advantage of a moment when Essie went to greet some guests to check on the long, lanky creep with her. All he had to do was speak to the man who, once he was no longer talking to Essie fell back to using "fuckin'." And so Alan Kal knew him.
As the minutes passed, both Kal and Laura drank champagne, toasting one another and getting high. But not once did he take his eye off Essie whom he thought was Myrna. Business before pleasure no matter how much he was anticipating being alone with Laura, later on.
Mickey came down to the party a little while later and looked around. He spotted Laura immediately. He also saw Alan Kal with her and decided something had to be done about the shrimp private eye first.
Mickey spotted Dick easily enough, and he, like Dick, was fooled into believing Essie was her daughter, Myrna. He was pleased things were going so well.
At the height of the merriment, Myrna made her entrance and was noticed by absolutely no one. This made her angry enough to sulk, and so instead of mixing with the fun lovers, she pushed her way across the room and sat on a chair near the entrance, all but out of sight.
It was Mickey who saw her seated alone, and still thinking Essie to be Myrna, walked over to the real Myrna, and in a deep tone introduced himself. Myrna, not knowing who he was, and in the various colored light in the room not noticing his goatee beneath his mask, allowed him to make conversation with her. She offered to dance with him, but he told her he'd hurt his foot, basically because he was a lousy dancer. As far as Mickey was concerned, it was an interesting way to pass the time. Soon enough he'd find a way to get Laura off by herself in a dark room, and then he'd crawl into her, making her think he was the family ghoul.
All different manner of costumes whirled by, some dancing, some walking. Voices filled everyone's ears, sounding like mechanical buzzsaws. Occasionally a laugh would knife through the vocal throb making Myrna wonder what had gone wrong. Why wasn't she the belle of the party, as she had planned.
After a while, Mickey excused himself and walked away, leaving Myrna by herself again. Grimly she sat there, refusing to run. It was her birthday, and she'd be damned if she'd let all these unthinking clods ruin it for her. She would sit there all night if necessary, and eventually someone would notice her, or she would find that someone with whom she would enjoy a magic charisma for the night. Sooner or later he would appear, whoever he was.
